Ruud to face Berrettini in clash of UTS champions in Rome
Casper Ruud is to take on fellow UTS rival Matteo Berrettini in the round of 32 in Rome.
The stage is set for a battle between the most recent UTS champion and the first.
Ruud took the title when he won the Bastide Médical UTS Nîmes earlier this year, with Berrettini (UTS nickname, ‘The Hammer’) winning the very first title in Nice back in 2020.
Ruud took the title in Madrid and is seeking to complete the Madrid/Rome double for the first time in his career, while Berrettini will look to capitalise on what is sure to be a partisan Italian home crowd.
The UTS Tour is set to make its debut in Asia this October with a new UTS Hong Kong event at the new and world-class venue, the Kai Tak Arena, taking place on 14 and 15 October.
