UTS Frankfurt / Dimitrov vs Rublev Final: FIVE championship points saved

Andrey “Rublo” Rublev won his first UTS title in Frankfurt, beating Grigor “G-Unit” Dimitrov 14-13, 12-17, 11-10, 17-16 in the most tense of encounters. The match was close throughout, and Dimitrov underlined that in the fourth quarter as he saved five championship points from 16-11 down in the final seconds to force a quarter point at 16-all – but Rublo held on, playing a decisive volley and smash to force an error from the Bulgarian.

UTS London / Draper Ruud semi-final: The closest possible encounter

Jack “The Power” Draper won all three quarters against Casper “The Ice Man” Ruud by a single deciding point – and reached the first-ever UTS Grand Final thanks to his 14-13, 12-11, 14-13 victory. The Power, who received a wildcard into the event, had dropped only one quarter through the round-robin stages in London, topping Group B with a huge points average of +48 – but Ruud came out firing, piling on the pressure to make this the most thrilling of matches.

UTS Oslo / Ruud vs Rune (Round Robin): The Battle of the North

Oslo got exactly what they wanted as home favourite Casper “The Ice Man” Ruud came back from a quarter down to defeat Nordic rival Holger “The Viking” Rune, 6-21, 14-13, 17-12, 13-12. A rowdy crowd were encouraged by Ruud – who paused in his serve action on the very first point to encourage them to make even more noise. And they helped him throughout as he came from a quarter down to surge into the lead and take the fourth quarter on a deciding point.
