Style and personality

Tomas Machac, alongside Jakub Mensik and Jiri Lehecka, is the next stage of Czech tennis’s storied history, and the pair he formed with Katerina Siniakova in mixed doubles won gold for their nation at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. With a brilliantly versatile backhand in his armoury, he’ll bring excitement and ingenuity to the UTS courts – what else can you expect from a man whose favourite shot is the tweener?

Career

Tomas Machac is quietly working his way to the top – breaking the top 25 for the first time in 2024, the year he also made his first ATP tournament final, in Geneva. He also reached his maiden quarter-final of an ATP Masters 1000, in Miami, confirming that he’s a threat on any hard court. He won his first ATP title in 2025 in Acapulco and broke into the top 20 for the first time.
