A fiery, often controversial player, Paire draws crowds wherever he plays. His game can be as big as his personality when he’s on form, with a double-handed backhand that can deliver sledgehammer blows to his opponents. Frequently deploying drop shots from the forehand and backhand side, Paire is a flamboyant and mercurial opponent, playing high-risk, high-reward shots regardless of the importance of the point. Despite frequent inconsistency on tour, his unpredictability is what defines him and also what makes him so entertaining to watch.
Career
Paire’s best result in a Grand Slam has been reaching the fourth round, which he has done on four occasions at three different majors. He has won three singles titles, and his career-high singles ranking is World No. 18, first achieved in January 2016. His career has been plagued by injury and some on-court temperamental issues, but his talent remains indisputable.
