Player description
Style and personality
He carries the most famous name in Swedish tennis, and he carries it his own way. At 1.83m and right-handed, Leo Borg builds his tennis from the baseline, where consistency and composure matter most and, like his father, he does it with a two-handed backhand. Björn Borg, alongside Jimmy Connors, was one of the players who took that shot from an oddity to the norm.
The surname brings a level of attention almost no other player of his ranking has ever faced, and he has handled it since his teenage years with a calm that is, in itself, very Borg. For Swedish fans, he is the one player on tour who connects the country’s golden era with its present, and every appearance on home soil turns into an event: Båstad, Stockholm and now Scandinavium, where his father will be in the stands.
Career
Borg won his first professional title on the ITF Tour in Sharm El Sheikh in October 2022 and reached a career-high World No. 334 in September 2023. He is currently Sweden’s No. 4 in singles based on the ATP rankings.
His two ATP Tour wins have both come at home: against Elias Ymer at Båstad in 2023, then against Sebastian Ofner at the Stockholm Open in 2025, the best win of his career by ranking. He also faced Rafael Nadal at Båstad in 2024, and played Davis Cup for Sweden in 2023. In 2026 he has been grinding on the ITF circuit, with a final in Båstad, a semi-final in Bali and a quarter-final in Guiyang.
UTS Gothenburg by BNP Paribas will be his first appearance in the format.
