UTS New York is just around the corner, and ahead of the event, three of the format’s stars have talked about some fascinating topics in the latest UTS podcast.

Nick “King Kyrgios” Kyrgios, Alexander “The Bublik Enemy” Bublik and UTS Founder and Chairman Patrick Mouratoglou went for dinner at The Aubrey bar and restaurant in London, where the latest ‘All on the Table’ talk-show episode was filmed.

From the worst losses they’ve taken, to what their dreams were growing up, why Bublik hates people being late and their mutual love of Marat Safin, the three tennis stars covered plenty of ground.

Here’s a look at some of the highlights.

Who’s crazier out of Bublik and Kyrgios?

Bublik and Kyrgios are known as two of the most polarising personalities on the ATP Tour. Perhaps that’s why they fit so well into UTS.

The pair discussed on episode seven of ‘All on the Table’ just which one of them is crazier.

“He is by far the craziest!” Kyrgios began, when posed the question by Mouratoglou.

“How do we define craziest?” interjected Bublik.

“OK, on court you’re much crazier, bro,” conceded Kyrgios.

“I haven’t spit at an umpire’s face,” rebutted Bublik, referring to an incident in Cincinnati in 2019 when the Aussie spat at the chair umpire.

“When we played doubles, I was the one who was saying let’s not do this, let’s be normal,” insisted Kyrgios.

The pair eventually agreed that on court, Bublik’s play style was the craziest, but off court, Kyrgios takes the cake for the worst behaviour.

Kyrgios uses trash talk strategically

Another interesting moment was when King Kyrgios revealed that he uses trash talk strategically during matches.

The Australian has long been known for his on-court antics. However, there’s a rhyme and a reason, he insists.

“Yeah definitely. Not freak out, just not concentrate on what he’s supposed to be doing,” explained Kyrgios, when asked by Mouratoglou if he uses trash talk to make his opponents “freak out”.

“Like, Federer… It even worked against Federer a bit,” he continued. “He was like, ‘What’s going on?’ It’s funny.

“It should be normal.”

“Of course,” Mouratoglou agreed. “It’s a mental game.

“In a way, Rafa does it. He doesn’t trash talk, but the way he behaves, he tries to have a mental impact on you.”

Kyrgios went on to share the story of how he recorded Nadal before a match once, in an attempt to throw him off his pre-match routine.

UTS will return in New York from August 22 to 23, with tickets still available here.
