Kyrgios, Norrie, Cerundolo and Humbert set for UTS Rio next July!

UTS’ debut in South America is starting to take shape. We reveal the name of four of the eight tennis players that will participate at the tournament in Rio de Janeiro, between July 16th and 18th, competing for the total prize of over USD 1.2 million (around R$ 6 million): the Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the British Cameron Norrie, the French Ugo Humbert and the Australian Nick Kyrgios.

Answering the fans request, who rarely have the chance to see top-ranked European players at the country, UTS opened its first list of confirmations with two names from the Old Continent. And there’s room for more.

Norrie, currently number 24 in the world, became the fourth British player in history to reach ATP Rankings Top 10, with his eighth place in 2022 following his Masters 1000 Indian Wells title. In 2023, he came to Rio Open as the second seed and made history by winning the trophy beating Carlos Alcaraz in the final. Their “battle” of 2h41 planted Norrie’s desire to return to the country.

Another European, the Frenchman Ugo Humbert (No. 34) comes to Brazil for the first time in his career, bringing with him seven ATP tournament titles, which made him occupy the 13th spot at the ranking (his career high) in 2025. True specialist of indoor hard courts, the left hander is still searching for his first UTS trophy (5 participations, with a runner-up position in UTS Frankfurt in 2024, losing against Ben Shelton (No. 8)).

Opening the list of “locals” we have the Argentinian Cerundolo, age 27, living the best moments in his career. Placed 19th at the ATP Ranking, the best ranked South American player won 14 of 20 matches this season, while reaching the fourth round at the Australian Open, semifinal at ATP 250 in Santiago and, the title at ATP 250 in Buenos Aires.

The fourth athlete confirmed in Rio is the Australian Nick Kyrgios. A former number 13 in the world, he brings with him an impressive track record, culminating with his Wimbledon final in 2022. After sitting out the 2025 season due to injury, Kyrgios is currently preparing for the 2026 grass season and is excited to bring his “showman” personality to Rio and the electric atmosphere of Maracanãzinho.

As usual in UTS stages, the athletes are represented by their nicknames: “El Cannon” (Cerundolo), “King Kyrgios” (Kyrgios), “The Commander” (Humbert), and “Noz Dog” (Norrie, debuting at UTS).

With all these confirmations, there are still four spots left for UTS Rio. So far, the leader of the League is the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (No. 7 in the world), who won the first stage of the season (in Nîmes, France) against Casper Ruud (No. 12). Humbert also played “at home”, losing at the quarter finals against Alexander Bublik (No. 11) by 3-2.

The stage in France was broadcast live by Grupo Globo, at SporTV and GETV, as it will happen with all UTS competitions this year. The presale of tickets for Rio (July 16th–18th) will be opened this week at Ticketmaster, with support from the State Government through the Sports and
