‘King Kyrgios’ will coach ‘Big Foe’ at UTS
Nick “King” Kyrgios will be on the UTS sidelines this week, with a right wrist injury ruling him out of action.
Instead, he steps into coaching, helping Frances “Big Foe” Tiafoe as he begins his quest to win in Los Angeles.
When the Australian announced that he would be unable to play in the event, he hinted that he was looking for a different role, saying, “I will still be coming to LA and the UTS event. Maybe I’ll coach…any suggestions?”
And with Tiafoe lacking his long-time coach Wayne Ferreira this weekend, Kyrgios has filled the vacancy.
Every UTS player has a coach on the sidelines, available for advice during their matches.
Tiafoe will be playing in Group B, alongside Ben “The Mountain” Shelton, Alexander “The Bublik Enemy” Bublik, and “La Monf” Gael Monfils.
UTS Los Angeles will be held from July 21 to 23 at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, on the Campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills in a 7,200 seat stadium. It marks a return of professional tennis to the greater Los Angeles area, which hosted an ATP event from 1968 to 2012.
