Order of Play revealed for Chubb UTS Hong Kong with Humansa quarterfinals

The order of play for Day 1 at Chubb UTS Hong Kong with Humansa, the third stage of the 2025 UTS Tour, has been released, highlighting the duel between seed N°2 Andrey Rublev and Hong Kong native Coleman Wong as the pinnacle of the day, six weeks after their five-set thriller at the US Open where Wong was close to his greatest performance in his career.

A lot is on the line as Rublev has to reach the semi-finals to control his chance to play the UTS Grand Final in London, and Wong needs to win the trophy to get there, as he will play UTS for the first time.

The schedule of the quarterfinals is displayed as follows:

Tuesday, October 14th

  • 6:30 Cerundolo vs Mannarino
  • 7:30 Shang vs Gasquet
  • 8:30 De Minaur vs Zhang
  • 9:30 Rublev vs Wong

Every player has a lot to gain from this quarterfinal stage in the UTS Race Rankings, which is key for qualification.

The opening match at 6:30 will set Francisco Cerundolo from Argentina on stage, whose incredibly consistent game seems to suit perfectly with UTS rules. He will make his first steps at UTS, having to win the iconic Zeus trophy by winning three matches, to compete at the UTS Grand Final.

In front of him, French lefty and creative counterpuncher Adrian Mannarino only needs to secure one win to validate his ticket, after his appearance at the semi-final of UTS Guadalajara earlier this season.

The next match will be a battle of generations between Chinese lefty rising star Juncheng Shang and French legend Richard Gasquet, who will say goodbye to the Asian crowd as 2025 is his last season on Tour. Gasquet, named as the substitute for this event, has to jump in as Jakub Mensik from Czech Republic withdrew due to a knee injury contracted during the Asian swing.

Gasquet is a UTS specialist from Day 1, having reached the Final Four of the three first editions thanks to his majestic one-handed backhand, and still can reach the Grand Final if he reaches the final.

Shang, who had defeated Top 10 Karen Khachanov at the Shanghai Masters 1000 last week, needs to win the tournament to qualify for the Grand Final.

So is the destiny of Zhizhen Zhang, the best-ever Chinese player at the ATP rankings, who’ll try his luck against seed No.1 and reigning UTS champion Alex de Minaur, the only one with Andrey Rublev to have secured two UTS wins in his career.

De Minaur needs to reach the semi-finals to be in control of his chances to see the Grand Final.

Wednesday will mark the day of the Final Four, which will feature a semi-finals and final draw. The losers of the quarterfinals will meet to determine the final rankings for the UTS Grand Final.
