Former UTS champion Jack Draper wins Vienna Open while Shelton comes up short in Basel

2023’s UTS Grand Final winner in London, Jack ‘The Power’ Draper has won his second ATP title, beating Karen Khachanov 6-4, 7-5 in the final of the Vienna Open.
It is Draper’s first 500-level title, securing the new milestone on his first appearance in a final at this level.
A dominant performance across the first set-and-a-half was under threat from a stirring fightback from Khachanov, before Draper broke at the death to seal the biggest win of his young career.
“I’ve loved being here. Honestly, Vienna’s an incredible tournament,” Draper said.
“So many amazing players in this draw and to win my first ATP 500 tournament here, it feels incredible.”
It was a less successful day for fellow UTS colleague and recent UTS Frankfurt champion Ben ‘The Mountain’ Shelton, however, as the American went down 6-4, 7-6 (4) in the final of the Basel Open to talented young Frenchamn Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
Perricard served impecccably to shut Shelton out, breaking once in the first set before sealing the title in the breaker to deny the American his third ATP title.
