Kyrgios tells fans to book up for UTS New York: “I’m box office”
Nick Kyrgios says he can’t wait to strut his stuff in UTS New York later this summer.
The Australian, who will be one of the stars of the show at the legendary Forest Hills venue, is recovering from injury but says he will be raring to go.
“I’m box office,” the former Wimbledon runner-up told UTS by email, when asked why fans should book tickets for the eight-man event on August 22-23. “Simple as that.”
Kyrgios was present at UTS Los Angeles last summer, acting as a coach for Frances Tiafoe. The innovative, groundbreaking UTS format, he said, suits his character.
“For me it’s the energy, the music and the culture,” he said. “That brings out the best in me. It’s much more like basketball than tennis. UTS is the future for sure. Unbelievable experience in LA. Patrick has it down.”
Kyrgios said he will relish playing in the US, where he feels “really comfortable” and said his recovery is on track.
“I’m feeling great but taking it one day at a time. It was a pretty significant surgery so we will see how it goes,” he said.
Tickets for UTS New York will be on sale from 10am ET (2pm GMT) on March 22.
