The Demon and The Illusionist into maiden Wimbledon quarter-finals
Two UTS stars are celebrating making their maiden Wimbledon quarter-finals as Alex “The Demon” de Minaur and Lorenzo “The Illusionist” Musetti secured their places in the last eight.
De Minaur – who won the UTS title in Antwerp back in 2021, and made the final in Oslo earlier this year – defeated France’s Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
He had previously made the fourth round in 2022.
Earlier, Musetti – who will make his UTS debut in Frankfurt – came back from a set down to defeat France’s Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2.
The Italian had never previously been beyond the third round in SW19.
They are joined in the last eight by The Hotshot, Taylor Fritz, who beat Alexander Zverev in a dramatic five-set comeback to reach the quarter-finals for the second time.
