Bastide Médical UTS Nîmes welcomes Guadalajara winner Tomas Machac in the field
Czech Tomas Machac – “The Air Machete” will be aiming for glory in this week’s Bastide Médical UTS Nîmes, which will be played at the historic amphitheatre Les Arènes de Nîmes.
The 24-year-old, who won the first UTS event of 2025 in Guadalajara in February, replaces Taylor Fritz, “The Hotshot”, who pulled out on Tuesday after aggravating an abdominal injury when playing in the Miami Masters.
“I was super-excited to come back to the UTS Tour after I made the final in Los Angeles in 2023,” Fritz said.
“Unfortunately, I aggravated an abdominal injury during my semi-final match in Miami, and I will not be able to recover in time to compete in Bastide Médical UTS Nîmes this week. I was really looking forward to play in this iconic venue and can’t wait to be back on UTS soon!”
The Czech will start his title bid in Nîmes against the home-favourite ‘La Monf’ Gael Monfils in the quarter-finals on Saturday, April 4.
