‘The Viking’ beats Alcaraz in Barcelona to claim fifth title
Holger ‘The Viking’ Rune downed the home-favourite Carlos Alcaraz 7- 6 (6), 6-2 in the Barcelona Open final on Sunday.
The win brought Rune his fifth title on the ATP Tour and third on outdoor clay. It also propelled him to ninth spot in the world rankings on Monday. “I’m really proud of how I played. This means the world to me,” the champion said after the match.
The Dane is already a two-time Grand Final runner-up (London: 2023-24)
Shelton falls short in Munich final
On the other hand, Ben ‘The Mountain’ Shelton couldn’t overcome a resurgent Alexander Zverev in the Munich Open final on Sunday.

Playing his fourth tour-level final, the young American lost 6-2, 6-4 to Zverev. Shelton is a force to be reckoned with on the UTS Tour, having won the Frankfurt event in 2024
