Berrettini and Musetti help Italy to Davis Cup glory
Lorenzo “The Illusionist” Musetti and Matteo “The Hammer” Berrettini have finished the year as Davis Cup champions with Italy.
Berrettini’s superb 6-4, 6-2 win over Botic van de Zandschulp got the final off to the best start possible for Italy.
World No 1 Jannik Sinner sealed the win by beating Tallon Griekspoor 7-6 (2), 6-2.
Musetti had featured in the quarter-final against Argentina earlier in the week in Malaga, in a losing effort, 6-4, 6-1, against Francisco Cerundolo.
Musetti made his UTS debut in 2024, reaching the final four in Frankfurt.
Berrettini was there at the start of UTS, winning the first-ever title in a sudden-death showdown against Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in 2020.
