Shapo and The Ice Man reach Dallas Open semi-finals

Ahead of their participation at UTS Guadalajara next week, Denis ‘Shapo’ Shapovalov and Casper ‘The Ice Man’ Ruud have reached the semi-finals at the Dallas Open.
‘Shapo’ has had an especially impressive week, having collected his first top 10 victory since 2022 – beating fellow UTS player Taylor ‘The Hotshot’ Fritz in three-sets. Additionally, the Canadian was victorious over Miomir Kecmanovic, and, on Friday, gained a confidence-building win over in-form Tomas ‘The Air Machete’ Machac (who will also play at UTS Guadalajara next week). ‘Shapo’ will next face Tommy Paul in the Dallas Open semi-finals.
‘The Ice Man’, on the other hand, is back up to world No 5 in the rankings, and has had a solid week in Texas. Along the way to the final four, he has beaten James Duckworth, Michael Mmoh, and Yoshi Nishikoka – who had to retire mid-match due to a shoulder injury. The event is Ruud’s first semi-final at a hard court non-round robin event since Acapulco 2024, and he will be looking to go a step further, if he can overcome Spaniard Jaume Munar.
