UTS Grand Final: Who will end the year on a high?
The fourth and final UTS event of the season looms this weekend, with the UTS Grand Final taking place from Friday, 6 December through to Sunday, 8 December. The best of the best have earned their places at the London-based event, but only one can prevail and be crowned 2024 champion.
Who will reign supreme at the Copper Box Arena on Sunday? Read on as we breakdown all you need to know about the upcoming UTS Grand Final.
Who’s playing at the UTS Grand Final?
Eight players will compete at the UTS Grand Final, split into two groups of four.
Group A
Andrey Rublev (1)
Ugo Humbert (4)
Gael Monfils
Thanasi Kokkinakis (WC)
Group B
Alex de Minaur (2)
Alexander Bublik (3)
Holger Rune (WC)
Jan-Lennard Struff (WC)
Group A is packed with powerful UTS players. Two-time champion Rublev leads the charge, but will have tough competition from Monfils, who comes into London having won recently in New York. The Frenchman also brings a wealth of experience, having played more UTS matches than any other player in London. Humbert and Kokkinakis will also threaten in Group A, with both having gone deep in the most recent event in Frankfurt.
Over in Group B, UTS veteran Bublik will be up against the star-power of De Minaur and Rune. The Kazakh made his first final in New York this year, showing what he’s capable of when his serve is on-song. Germany’s Struff will be the underdog of the group, having stepped in as a last-minute replacement for the injured Denis Shapovalov.
Each group will play a round-robin format, with two players advancing through to the Final Four, which then becomes knockout tennis.
