Rublev to be joined by newly-added coach Safin at Bastide Médical UTS Nîmes
Double Grand Slam champion Marat Safin is set to join Andrey ‘Rublo’ Rublev‘s coaching team, as reported by Russian media outlet Bolshe.
It is understood that Fernando Vicente will remain the primary coach for the world No 9, but that Safin will join the team to add another experienced voice to the coaching set-up.
The announcement comes amid a run of poor form for Rublev, with the Russian losing his last three consecutive matches after having won his 17th ATP title last month in Doha.
Safin will first accompany Rublev at the Bastide Médical UTS Nîmes, taking place April 4 – 5, as he attempts to capture a third UTS title.
The quarter-final line-up for Nîmes has already been revealed, in a format that will be identical to that of UTS New York last August.
Taylor Fritz “The Hotshot” – Gaël Monfils “La Monf”
Andrey Rublev “Rublo” – Ben Shelton “The Mountain”
Alex de Minaur “The Demon” – Ugo Humbert “The Commander”
Casper Ruud “The Ice Man” – Holger Rune “The Viking”
