Big Foe prevails v The Mountain in Friday’s US Open Showdown

On Friday, Frances ‘Big Foe’ Tiafoe prevailed 4-6, 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-3 in an all-UTS meeting at the US Open vs Ben ‘The Mountain’ Shelton in a five-set battle to reach the fourth round.
The clash was much anticipated by the crowd and the wider tennis community, with the match not disappointing. ‘Big Foe’ lost the first and third sets, meaning that he was almost constantly behind in the score, including losing a nail-biting tie-break against the big-serving Shelton.
In the fifth set, Tiafoe managed to secure a crucial break and sailed to victory on serve from there.
Speaking after the win, ‘Big Foe’ heaped praise on ‘The Mountain’ and stated:
“Ben’s an incredible player, man, and he comes up with the goods a lot. It was definitely a tough match.”, before summing up his level during the match: “Ultimately a great performance, something I’m really happy about.”
Both of the Americans will once against appear at UTS, this time in Frankfurt which takes place later this year, from October 18th-20th at the Süwag Energie Arena.
