Nick Kyrgios confirmed as final member of UTS Frankfurt lineup
Nick “King Kyrgios” Kyrgios will play in the UTS Frankfurt event in October.
Kyrgios completes the line up for the October 17-20 event, to be held at the Süwag Energie Arena, joining Ben Shelton – “The Mountain”, Frances Tiafoe – “Big Foe”, Gael Monfils – “La Monf”, Dominic Thiem – “Dominator”, Lorenzo Musetti – “The Illusionist”, Alex de Minaur – “The Demon” and Jan-Lennard Struff – “The Thunder” in the eight-man field.
The winner will automatically qualify for the UTS Grand Final in London.
The mercurial Australian will be playing in his second UTS event, with Kyrgios due to debut in New York this August.
However, he has been associated with the new format for some time.
Last year, Kyrgios was slated to play in Los Angeles, but had to withdraw due to injury. However, he still participated in the event, coaching Frances “Big Foe” Tiafoe.
His coaching wasn’t enough to get Big Foe through to the Final Four, but did produce some
entertaining soundbites from the sidelines.
With UTS focused on fan-engagement and creating a more entertaining, interaction version of tennis, Kyrgios and his antics are a match made in heaven.
Now, he will have several opportunities to thrill UTS fans.
