Kokki signs up for UTS Guadalajara
Australian tennis star Thanasi Kokkinakis will return to the UTS Tour for the Guadalajara, Mexico event in February. ‘Kokki’ will play his third consecutive UTS event in Mexico.
The UTS Tour will be in Latin America for the first time on February 14th. – 16th as a part of the 2025 UTS Tour. The innovative, fast-paced tennis league, founded by Patrick Mouratoglou, will make a stop at the main court of the Centro Panamericano de Tenis in Guadalajara. This will be the first tournament in the 2025 UTS Tour. Jack Draper (2023) and Alex de Minaur (2024) were the previous UTS champions.
Kokkinakis, ranked No 77 in the world, reached the semi-finals at UTS Frankfurt this year and was eliminated in the round-robin sage at the UTS Grand Final London.
Kokknakis will be one of eight players in the UTS Guadalajara field. Other who have confirmed their participation include former Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios, “King Kyrgios”; Norwegian Casper Ruud, “The Ice Man” a three-time runner-up in Grand Slams; Canadian Denis Shapovalov, “Shapo” a former Wimbledon semi-finalist and former top 10 player and Flavio Cobolli, “Il Gladiatore”, the rising young star of Italian tennis. The rest of the players will be announced in the next few weeks.
The eight players, who will be split into two groups of four, will compete for a $1.4 million prize money purse. The winner of the UTS in Guadalajara will take home $420,000.
